Our price is per sq/m and includes the following services:

  • Remove existing soil
This can be done by hand if it is a relatively small area being fitted with artificial grass. For larger areas, use a turf cutter. However, it must be taken into account to never build your base on top soil.

  • Compact the area
Confidently compact the ground by using a vibrating plate or roller. These can usually be hired from equipment hire centre's for inexpensive prices.

  • Add the weed barrier
Once your base his been compacted, add a weed killing membrane on the area to be covered with synthetic grass. This will not only reduce the likeliness of weeds growing through the artificial grass but will also allow vital drainage.

  • Add the sub base (to allow drainage)
Place down a minimum of 50mm of sharp and compacted sand or stone. If the sand is too dry, add a little wet sand and compact using your vibrating plate or roller.

  • Add the concrete borders (non decorative, only for securing the grass)
We then add a mixture of cement and and aggregated stone to create a 10cm border around the edges of the area. We ensure that the concrete edging is not higher than the final grass line, to allow the water to run-off the turf.

  • Lay your artificial grass
Carefully roll out your artificial grass, being careful to not disturb the weed killing membrane as this will damage the levelling work on the base layer. Remember, your grass has a directional pile, so it will all need to face the same way if you have any joins. We recommend laying the grass with the pile leaning towards your house or main area so that it looks more natural.

  • Carefully trim the edges
After the settling process is complete, cut and trim the artificial grass, using a sharp Stanley knife, ensuring the grass is cut neatly around the edges.

  • Glue the joints together
In order to compose the joins of your grass, use our high-quality outdoor tape and glue, following the instructions on the products. Lay the tape and apply the adhesive, before pulling the grass edges together and applying some weight to them. This can be achieved with plant pots, stones or other heavy materials.

  • Brush the artificial grass
Finally, the fibre may be relatively flat from being rolled up, so be sure to brush against the pile to bring the fibres of the artificial grass upright. Then sit back and enjoy your artificial grass lawn!
